The solution is simpler than you might think: a gentle pressure cleaning (washing) which would not only transform it into looking "like new" but also prepare the surface for preservation: staining or painting.

And have you noticed the rotting bottom of the gate? If you did I bet you'd be worried the pressure woul destroy it. Surprise: we didn't not remove a single peice of timber. Now that's "real magic" and not a promise: rotten wood should be replaced, naturally, and you may need to do it even if the pressure washing does not.

Have you noticed the wines and tree branches in front of the fence? Those could not prevent us from achieving this result nor did we damage them.
